Information on LEDs and lighting.
Determine the watt rating of a bulb to get the same brightness.
This chart shows the relative size of SMD Leds that can be used in modeling. I use a lot of the 0402 and 0603 size for lighting.
A photo of SMD LEDs for comparison.
A cheap LED tester that I purchased off of eBay from China. Comes in handy for a quick circuit test.
I use flat nosed aligator clips attached to the LED tester to test LEDs. These clips are not easy to find, but worth hunting down a few. Regular aligator clips are too course for the size of wires used in modeling.
I purchase a lot of prewired SMD LEDs from China on sites like eBay. This saves a whole lot of time.
Conductive paint or glue can make some wiring jobs a lot easier. I use this a lot in modeling to both glue the LED in place, but to also make the connections. Covered with paint or other materials, a connection can be made that would be almost impossible with wire.
Copper tape with conductive glue is also a great way to make connections when the area has to remain flat and a wire would make this impossible. Connections to the copper tape can be made with solder or conductive paint.
